Iggy the rabbit gains place at Paston
On Monday [July 12] staff and students at Paston Sixth Form College in North Walsham hosted a VIP with a difference - a pet black rabbit called Iggy !
Iggy had found her way onto the College's Lawns site having escaped from a nearby garden. She was rescued by head caretaker Mark Byers and placed in her own rapidly constructed compound with carefully laid bedding and food. She instantly became a celebrity with staff and students keen to take a look at her and solicitous for her wellbeing.
Meanwhile notes were posted through the letter boxes of adjoining properties, radio stations were asked to broadcast a rabbit SOS, and Sharon Hall, the College Receptionist, made numerous calls to animal rescue agencies for assistance - all to no avail until later in the day when Iggy's owner, Sophie from Kings Arms Street, North Walsham, returned home and rang the College.
So a happy ending Iggy was reunited with Sophie and her young son Ozric, and the College returned to its normal business.
The incident caused so much excitement - rabbit, rabbit, rabbit, rabbit??.. Iggy's adventure had secured her a place at Paston Sixth Form College - albeit one in the heart rather than on the roll !.
