Tom crowned winner of winners - and it's bootiful

BTEC year 2 Art and Design student, Tom Heaffey, from Neatishead, won not one but two Bernard Matthews Youth Awards, one for his educational achievement and to mark his work in raising awareness of Mears-Irlen Syndrome - a form of visual stress which causes difficulties with activities such as reading - a condition he himself has, and the second as the overall winner across the eight sections of the 2010 Matthews Awards.

He was presented with this by TV sports presenter Jake Humphrey. Tom (right) proudly displays his awards in front of the portrait of Sir William Paston.

'A' is for Alicia

Alicia Audsley was the 2009 winner of the British Psychological Society's prize for achievement at A-level or in the Scottish Highers, as the top performing Psychology student in the country.

A year on from being named as one of the top 10 performers in Psychology at AS, Alicia scored 100% in all her papers at Alevel, a huge achievement and one of which we are all very proud.

Alicia, from Sheringham, came to Paston from Wood Dene School in 2007. She achieved 3 A's and a B at AS and straight As at A-level and is currently at the University of York, you've guessed it, reading Psychology. Well done Alicia and well done the Paston Psychology department.

Alicia received a cash prize of £150, the British Science Student Bursary to attend the Festival of Science and a year's membership of the British Psychological Society.

Jenny aims to STEP into Cambridge

Paston students are very happy to be getting their offers of places at university, but happiest of all is Jenny Earl who was over the moon to be offered a place at Pembroke College, Cambridge. Before
she can take up this place however, Jenny not only has to achieve the new A* grade in at least one of her four A- levels, but also has to get high grades in an additional Cambridge maths test - the STEP paper.

Jenny from Wroxham is a former pupil of Broadland High School in Hoveton and is a Sir William Paston Scholar. In her AS examinations in 2009 she achieved 4 As and a B in Maths, Further Maths, English Language and Literature and Psychology and Critical Thinking.
