STUDENTS IN ENTERPRISE
Help train the workforce of the future - offer a young person work experience within your company today
Work related learning is a fast growing area. We know that employers value people who have undertaken work experience and that partnerships between employers and education are valuable in promoting work related learning as well as in improving the quality and quantity of such experiences.
Each year the Work Related Learning Department at Paston College places around 200 students aged between 14 and 19 within companies throughout Norfolk. These work placements are a compulsory part of the curriculum for students and each year many companies, both large and small, generously donate their time to help our young people achieve their goals and gain their vocational qualifications.
Paston College Work Related Learning Department requires work experience placements for students across a range of programmes:
Increased Flexibility Programme (IFP): 14–16 year olds achieving Level 1 qualifications through work based learning
Pre-Apprenticeships: 16-18 year olds developing their employability skills prior to full time employment
Entry to Employment (e2e) : 16-19 year olds preparing for progression into employment
Level 2 qualifications: Business & Administration, Customer Service, Children’s Care Learning and Development, Health and Social Care, Sport (Exercise and Fitness) and IT Practitioners
Whatever the size or capabilities of your organisation you could reap the benefits from taking students on work experience. Our programmes aim to:
- Provide an understanding of the world of work and enterprise and thereby making the transition between school and workplace easier;
- Improve student’s personal and social development by increasing self-confidence and maturity;
- Help students to develop skills and knowledge and link their experiences to their studies.
The benefits to you as an employer:
- An extra pair of hands one day a week, at no cost to you;
- The knowledge that you are helping to train the local workforce of the future
The placement pattern of attendance is varied – from only a few days, to one day a week over two school years. We require placements within retail, customer service, administration, trade counters, schools/ nurseries, IT, health and social care, sports and fitness and horticultural based roles.
