Politics students quiz Lib Dem leader Vince Cable
4th February 2019
A-Level Politics students from Paston College had the chance to put their questions to a party leader when Vince Cable spoke at an event hosted in the college’s Griffon Theatre.
The students were invited to join the public meeting, which was organised by the Liberal Democrats.
Mr Cable was joined on the stage by North Norfolk MP, Norman Lamb, and district council leaders.
The Lib Dem leader talked about the relationship between local and national politics, as well as Brexit and other key issues facing the UK.
Beth Meyer, who is in the first year of the A-Level Politics course at Paston College, said:
“There was lots of anticipation before the event so it was really exciting when Vince Cable started speaking. I found this event really good as it gave us an opportunity to learn about parts of politics that we haven’t covered in our lessons yet. It also made everything we’re doing in lessons seem more real and showed us how what we have learnt so far is going on at the moment.”
Fellow A-Level Politics student Fenton Roberts, added:
“I went in a little unsure at first but was really excited when [Vince Cable] came out. I thought his speech was really good and I was really impressed with how direct his answers were to our questions – it was refreshing to hear directly from a party leader.”
