Paston College students have been celebrating excellent results in their A Levels, T Levels, and other vocational qualifications – results which have seen them secure fantastic Higher Education and apprenticeship places.
After achieving outstanding A Level results of two A*s and an A, in Sociology, Politics, and Mathematics, Dorothy has secured a place at Oxford University to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Dorothy said:
I looked at UCAS earlier because that opens at 8 o’ clock. Before I got onto UCAS it was all nerves, but once I’d opened it and knew I’d got the place, I was excited to find out my results. To be able to see those grades, because they were better than what I needed, it was really a big sense of joy.”
Fellow A Level student James is looking forward to starting an apprenticeship in nuclear engineering with Rolls Royce, after achieving an A* in Chemistry and A’s in Physics and Mathematics. James said:
I was looking to go into engineering, whether it was uni or an apprenticeship. What Rolls Royce are doing on the nuclear side intrigued me. I’ve been interested in nuclear for a while, because I believe it is a good technology. I found the apprenticeship and thought it was good that you get the degree paid for.”
Health and Social Care student Olivia will be combining work with Higher Education study after achieving Merit, Merit, Pass in the Level 3 BTEC. She is going on to do Foundation Degree in Childcare & Early Years at City College Norwich, alongside working in the Special Educational Needs sector. Olivia said:
I’ve really loved it at Paston. Because I did the BTEC, I’m normally only in the one building, so it’s quite a close community. You develop quite a close bond as a group. The teachers are all really helpful. It’s a nice community to be in at Paston, it’s homely.”
